A POTTED HISTORY OF OUR BOROUGH SHOP

1988   Brindisa started importing Spanish foods and built up a following amongst the country´s top chefs and food stores. Originally the Brindisa wholesale warehouse was around the corner from the wholesale-only market at Borough. Our "shop" began with open-warehouse evenings for friends and foodies.

1996   Brindisa linked up with other local wholesalers including Neals Yard Dairy offering warehouse "open days" to the public.

1998   The Foodlovers Food Fair brought people and publicity to Borough Market, beginning the transformation into a retail market.

1999    Brindisa opened its first Borough Market stand.

2005   Brindisa Shop at Borough Market is launched in the beautiful Floral Hall building on Stoney Street. This glorious structure dates from the mid 19th century and was originally part of the Covent Garden flower market.
